Do You Have A Growth Mindset?

You don’t have to believe that you are perfect. You only have to believe that you are capable and becoming better tomorrow than you are today.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Psalm 37:23

A growth mindset doesn’t happen over night it comes with non stop effort, determination, intentional repetition, and patience with yourself. Anything you do good for yourself doesn’t happen over night, it begins with taking smalls steps.

“Changing the way you used to think would be a good way towards a growth mindset.” You can look at setbacks as stepping stones as lessons to be learned as well as new opportunities instead of lack of ability, you can deliberately train yourself to see them as data for future learning.

I would say at one time I was that person who struggled with certain skills. I had no idea how to tap into my talents and abilities, being a late blummer in that area of my life way back when was a total fog. “I was absolutely clueless to what having a growth mindset was all about. Better late then never right.” Now that I believe in myself and my capabilities thinking I can do whatever I want when I change my mindset.

Learning plays a big part in growth mindset and overtime learning creates new experiences and knowledge which causes the brain to rewright itself, believing with a new mindset there is nothing you can’t do. Now when I see that I failed at a task, I say to myself what do I need to do to improve. The growth mindset turns into a stepping stone towards a successful goal.

Research indicates that a growth mindset — the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort and learning — significantly influences motivation, resilience, and academic success, though the impact of interventions varies. While early studies suggested massive, widespread benefits, more recent research shows that while effective, the impact is often smaller and more nuanced, particularly when scaled up.

Believing in yourself is the most powerful thing you can do. Believing in yourself keeps you from thinking about what you can’t do and focus on what you can learn, improve and achieve.

  • Self belief will take you out of your comfort zone with a sense of confidence to step into unfamiliar situations and learn from them.
  • In life we will come across setbacks and unexpected challenges. Setbacks are not the end they can fuel you. They can be seen as valuable opportunites for reflection, learning, and building resilience.
  • Encouragement plays a critical role in cultivating a growth mindset by shifting your focus from a fixed mindset to the process of learning a growth mindset.
  • You will never become limited in your ability to learn, and gain knowledge.
  • People who have a low self esteem are always seeking approval from others to validate them. A growth mindset develops when you learn to trust your own judgement.
  • You might not get recognition right away, that should not stop you from staying committed to your goals.

Praising an individual for both their talent and effort positively reinforces their behavior. And according to the philosophy of the growth mindset, positivity breeds success.
