I had been away for a while.
When I came back few days ago, I saw this writing challenge about Nature by Supriya . And although it was too late to participate, it gave me inspiration to write.my own story, for I have a special place in my heart for nature alone 😊
Have you ever experienced that feeling, when no words sound enough to convey it, when you wish there was a concept bigger than "love" ?
I have.
In a story where the main character is as old as time itself, yet hope and rebirth are its identity.
Let me take you on a little trip, to tell you the story of me and Nature.
🌸🌿🌸🌿🌸🌿🌸🌿🌸🌿🌸
I hear the birds chirpring, like a natural alarm gently taking me out of dreamland.
I open the window, to be greeted by the rising sun, urging the sky to change into a powerful yet warm color, signaling the start of a new day, a bouquet full of chances and opportunities.
A wave of anxiety washes over my brain and body, as I'm wondering if today is going to be nicer, if there is a place for me in this world, weither I'll survive and find peace or I'll be defeated.
While I'm drowning in my thoughts, the rustling of leaves, sounding like a gossip, pulled me out.
I stare at the trees. Standing still, trunk so firm and branches spread out gracefully, having survived many seasons and passed the test of time.
And I understood the message. The leaves were not gossiping. They wanted to tell me "You can do it too".
My eyes travel down, to the flowers, the little plants and bushes, existing in the same place, yet each one of them facing a different direction, with different colors and shades. Yet none of them looks out of place. They make a perfect picture together.
They are a reminder for us, of belonging somewhere no matter how small and different one might feel.
I exhale in relief, my thoughts vanishing in the air. Or maybe they got caught between a butterfly's wings, as it passes by, holding untold stories and wishes, easing the troubled hearts and heavy shoulders.
Suddenly, a wind blows. And the scent of the sea tickles my nose. So I follow it.
I got greeted by the sound of waves, racing to adjust the noise left inside my head, until it disappears.
I kick off my shoes and spread my arms to the breeze. I feel the sand slipping off between my toes, so soft and warm, taking my mind somewhere far away. To the desert. Where the sand is all you can see around you. It might feel like you're trapped. You trip, you fight the dunes, and you manage with what you have.
Isn't this how life works, too ?
I remember a documentary I watched where it was said that the desert was once an ocean, but life happened, and time did its work. It made me want to hold the sand in my hand and tell the desert "I wish you could meet your past"
But that's not how reality works. The desert might not become the ocean again, but life goes on for it, and hope shows up in the form of a beautiful oasis. With refreshing water for the thirsty. Fruits so sweet to restore energy. Shadows to seek for a rest.
It's a testament that no matter what trials we go through, the future will be okay for those who don't stop hoping.
A testament that I want to shout at the top of my lungs, maybe at the top of a mountain, where it looks like you're siezing time and space in one gaze. Where everything looks small, and what once was scary, seems manageable. Where every rock and every branch on the way up testifies a journey.
A journey so painful, so long, it leaves you breathless, but rewarding at the end of it all. I imagine myself standing there savouring the taste of victory and pride, the sun setting in the horizon, lingering just a bit, as if not wanting to miss any second of this moment. The sky gets painted with colors so soft, matching the feelings inside, and the smile appearing as I realize that I survived another day.
I'm back inside my room. I stare at the night sky for few minutes, and I wonder if the stars shining so brightly are the untold stories and wishes that got sent up by the butterflies, whispering to each other while everyone is asleep, asking the moon for advice. Maybe our dreams are the answers that reached us through the moonlight.
I take one last glance , and I close my window, after a long day with nature. Heart full of emotions. Mind tension free. Soul hopeful and comforted.
What's between me and nature is something bigger than love. Felt through all senses.
Nature is more than just beauty. It's a lesson.
It's a picture book, with a heart and soul.
"If your heart belonged to nature, whom would it chose ? " My answer is : All of it. Because chosing just one part feels like picking one page of your favourite book.
The challenge that inspired me
