Digital Storytelling in the Classroom

How can educators use Digital Storytelling apps like Adobe Express to inspire our students?

Digital storytelling is a powerful way to engage students because it combines narrative, visuals, music, and voice to create an emotional learning experience. Rather than simply explaining a concept, digital stories invite students to connect with ideas on a personal level. For this project, I created a digital story introducing my future 9th-grade English students to the purpose of our literature unit: exploring what it means to be human. Through personal reflection and storytelling, the video encourages students to see literature not as a collection of assignments but as an opportunity to build empathy, examine different perspectives, and better understand themselves and others. My hope is that this digital story inspires students to approach reading with curiosity and recognize that the most meaningful stories are often the ones that help us make sense of our own lives.
