We humans like to think life is predictable. We actually dare to live as if life truly is predictable. You make plans and you structure them in such a way that you forget that life could happen.

Most adults who are struggling to make ends meet once planned their teenage life to be doctors after reading Ben Carson. A child would refuse to be convinced otherwise after declaring he is going to be a teacher but give him until teenage years and his mind is changing.

One thing that has kept me without a concrete answer to so many things or concrete action is that I’m always changing my mind.

I can wake up today deciding to be this person and three weeks down the line, I’m already wondering how I could live like this for the nearest future.

Another thing that tends to be our downfall is when we mentally check lists like they are supposed to happen exactly. We forget to make room for error. We forget to make room for failure.

I used to think it was unfortunate for me because I am one person who’s thoughts go as zigzag as it can get. I’m planning to do something beneficial soon and I’m already thinking of every con even as far as into the next ten years while simultaneously thinking of every single thing that could possibly go wrong. If you live with the kind of mind I do, you’d likely go crazy. One moment you can see all the vision of how beautiful your plan can get and the next you can see everything that can come crashing down. It’s why my mind doesn’t get made up a lot of times.

One thing is certain, you will change your mind. You’re only but human. Some person’s started out pursuing medicine because of Ben Carson and as the future progressed it became something they actually had passion for.

You probably bought an outfit of 30k convincing yourself of so many reasons to do so but few weeks later, you’ve completely changed your mind.

You could save a sum of money last month even locking it so as to not randomly withdraw but it’s a new month, your mind it’s changed you don’t want to wait till the set time or you don’t want to save it for same reasons anymore.

It’s basic human nature. You will always change your mind.

But one thing I’m learning is the principle of compounding. And if you want things to compound, it requires endurance. Patience. Persistence. Compounding requires that you stay patiently on something, enduring whatever that happens untill fruition. Compounding means that you get to reap almost all that you have sown and interest. It is an accumulation of earnings and interest.

Imagine that playing out in your life because you chose patience.

Plan for the plan you’re planning for. Basically have a plan B for your plan B. Stop trying to predict your future. Things will not always go as planned. Believed it or not you have the same chances of flipping a tail as you have for flipping a head so why act like you’d only flip a head?

You have same chance of losing money as you have in investing so wisdom demands that you make plans for both sides. For whatever outcome that may come.

That is the attitude you should have towards your life too. Whatever you do plan for failure. Plan for error.

Plan a Plan B for your Plan B!
