Quant-UX: a Figma alternative for tight budget

While building Ki Wellness I found that I needed to design wireframes and prototype the app.

I finally got tired of designing, re-designing, re-designing and repeating uhhhhg! Why does everything look so dumb!

• So lets take a step back and start over properly.
• What is the dashboard going to look like?
• What features are needed?
• Functionality and buttons needed and where?

What colors look best for goodness sakes?! I’ve already updated the TailwindCSS code THREE times to finally find my brand colors.

Ok so now that I know I need to start with design 🤦‍♀️ what design software do I use? Figma is GOAT but costs money. This project may never bring in money so I am in an period of high risk — low reward in my business so I want to be very intentional about where I put money.

So let’s give Penpot a try. I wish I got paid for this advertisment but I don’t. I’m just an aspiring developer under budget.

The onboarding was quick and painless. It asked me what I was familiar with so I clicked Figma. Then I was able to select the reason I was there (Wireframing) and was dropped off at my new home page with links to templates if I needed a hand starting out! How cool.

Turns out this one did not have the basic tools immediately available to me so I left and now I am trying: Quant-UX

Now THIS looks more like what i was looking for!

Wireframing tools out the gate!

As soon as I opened the canvas I immediately saw buttons that seemed helpful.

And low and behold- wiring framing tools immediatley. ok bye! I gotta go now that I can finally hit the ground running. I’ll drop my creation below and time to completion.
