Sudan’s Hospitals: When Healing Grounds Become Graveyards

The horrific strike on Al Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur is a gut wrenching confirmation that the laws of war have been utterly discarded in Sudan. With WHO reports confirming 64 deaths including 13 children this isn’t just collateral damage. It is a calculated assault on the last line of defense for a dying population.

In my view, the international community’s paralysis is as devastating as the drones themselves. While the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF trade blame, the reality is that nearly three years of conflict have turned medical neutrality into a myth. Targeting a pediatric and maternity ward is a moral bankruptcy that no strategic objective can justify. According to UN figures, over 40,000 lives have been lost, yet the world remains a spectator. If we continue to allow hospitals to be treated as military targets, we aren’t just losing patients; we are losing our collective humanity. Peace is no longer just a diplomatic goal it is a medical necessity.
