Three Games You Need to Know About in 2026: Cat Mail Co., NTE: Neverness to Everness, and Forensics: Crime Scene Detective

2026 is turning out to be a great year for gamers who like different things. Some of us want to relax. Some want action and adventure. Some want a good mystery to solve.

Good news — there’s a game for all three moods this year.

Let’s look at three very different games:

  • Cat Mail Co., a cozy game about a cat post office.
  • NTE: Neverness to Everness, a big action game set in a city full of strange magic.
  • And Forensics: Crime Scene Detective, a game where you solve real crimes like a real scientist.

Here’s everything you need to know about each one.

🐱 Cat Mail Co. — A Calm, Cozy Post Office Run by Cats

If you want a game with no stress, no timers, and no failing, this one is for you.

The Story

You move to a place called Cat’s Island to start a new life. But when you arrive, the local post office is a mess. The old postmaster has disappeared, and there’s a huge pile of letters and packages waiting to be delivered.

It’s now your job to fix the post office and get the mail moving again.

As you deliver more letters, you slowly learn what happened to the missing postmaster. The story isn’t told through big cutscenes — it comes out slowly, through the letters and packages you handle every day.

What You Actually Do

The gameplay is simple and relaxing:

  • Sort the mail and organize the post office your way
  • Weigh packages on a scale, pick the right stamps, and label fragile or heavy items
  • Explore at night, when the moonlight reveals hidden secrets inside certain packages
  • No rush, ever — there are no timers and nothing you can fail

The game feels good to play. Simple actions like stamping a letter or wrapping a package are made satisfying with nice animations and sound.

Play With Friends

You can play with up to 4 people online. One person can handle the scale, another can add stamps, another can load the delivery boat — or you can all just relax together with no jobs assigned at all.

Characters

There’s no big cast of heroes here. Instead, you meet the friendly cats and residents of Cat’s Island, each with their own personality and their own reason for sending or receiving mail.

The heart of the game is the community you slowly bring back to life.

Release Date and Platforms

  • Release Date: July 9, 2026
  • Platform: PC (Steam)
  • Players: 1 to 4 people (online co-op)

Price

The final price hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s expected to be a normal-priced indie game, not a budget title.

Pre-Order Bonus

If you buy the game in its first week (around July 9–16, 2026), you get a free Supporter Pack with:

  • The game’s soundtrack
  • A digital art book
  • A small in-game bonus item

After that first week, this pack becomes paid DLC — so buying early gets you extra value for free.

Try the Demo First

A free demo has been on Steam since June 12, 2026.

The best part? Your demo progress carries over to the full game. You won’t lose any of your work when you buy it.

The demo has done really well, with a 96% positive rating from players and over 130,000 wishlists on Steam — a strong sign that people are excited for this one.

What’s Next

The developers haven’t shared an official plan yet, but based on how the game is built, you can expect future updates like new delivery routes, seasonal events, and maybe even new areas to explore.

🌆 NTE: Neverness to Everness — A Supernatural City Full of Action

If cozy games aren’t your thing and you want big action, a huge city to explore, and lots of characters to collect, NTE is worth your attention.

The Story

The game is set in Hethereau, a huge, modern city where strange magical events called Anomalies happen all the time. Normal life and supernatural chaos exist side by side.

You play as an Appraiser — basically an unofficial monster and mystery investigator. You join a shop called Eibon, which secretly takes on jobs involving these strange Anomalies.

What starts as small, simple cases slowly turns into a much bigger mystery involving powerful groups and dangerous secrets hidden across the city.

The story isn’t just about saving the world — it’s also about the everyday people living in this strange city, which makes it feel more personal.

What You Actually Do

NTE gives you a lot to do:

  • Explore a massive city with no loading screens
  • Fight enemies using fast, flashy combat and switch between characters mid-battle
  • Drive and customize cars through busy city streets
  • Buy and decorate your own apartment
  • Solve anomaly mysteries like a detective
  • Collect characters through a gacha (random pull) system

The city itself feels alive. Traffic moves, people go about their day, and the weather changes — it doesn’t feel like just a backdrop for fighting.

Meet the Characters

NTE has a big cast of characters you can collect and use in battle, including Zero (the main character), Nanally, Hotori, Chaos, Lacrimosa, Sakiri, Fadia, Baicang, Chiz, Daffodil, Hathor, Jiuyuan, Iroi, Shinku, Haniel, Adler, Mint, Aurelia, Edgar, and Skia.

Each one has their own fighting style and special powers, so you can build different types of teams.

Release Date and Platforms

  • Release Date: April 29, 2026 (already out!)
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Mac, iOS, and Android
  • Your progress carries over no matter which device you play on

Price

NTE is completely free to play. The game makes money by selling premium currency and characters through a gacha system, similar to games like Genshin Impact.

Launch Rewards

Instead of a normal pre-order, NTE gave players free rewards for hitting community goals before launch, including:

  • Free in-game currency and items
  • A free character named Haniel
  • A special vehicle skin unlocked when enough players followed the game on social media

New players can also earn extra free rewards through daily login bonuses and event challenges.

Try It Now

The game already went through several test phases before launching, and it’s now fully live and free to download and play.

What’s Next

NTE updates regularly, roughly every few weeks, with new characters, new story chapters, and special events.

Since launch, it has already added new playable characters and content, so you can expect this game to keep growing for a long time.

🔬 Forensics: Crime Scene Detective — Solve Crimes Like a Real Scientist

If you like slow, careful thinking more than action, this game is a great fit. Instead of chasing bad guys, you’re the scientist who studies the evidence after the police have already secured the scene.

The Story

You play as a forensic specialist — the person who looks at the facts and evidence to figure out what really happened. Instead of one long story, the game gives you several different cases to solve, each based on real forensic science.

What makes this game different is its goal: it’s not just about finding a guilty person. Good forensic work can also prove someone is innocent.

This game was made with help from real police experts in Germany, so the cases feel realistic and grounded — not exaggerated like a TV crime drama.

What You Actually Do

Each case has two main parts:

At the crime scene, you:

  • Take photos of evidence
  • Search for fingerprints
  • Collect DNA and blood samples
  • Measure bullet paths
  • Check phones and computers for deleted information
  • Carefully label and store everything you find

Back at the lab, you:

  • Compare DNA samples
  • Match fingerprints
  • Study blood evidence
  • Analyze digital devices

You use real tools like fingerprint powder, UV lights, DNA swabs, and trajectory rods. Nothing is just for looks — every tool has a real purpose. Miss one small clue, and it could completely change how the case ends.

Characters

This game isn’t about a big cast of heroes. You are the main character — the forensic specialist. You work alongside police officers and lab staff, but the real focus stays on the evidence and the cases themselves.

Release Date and Platforms

  • Release Date: July 13, 2026
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Price

The exact price hasn’t been shared yet, but you can wishlist the game now on Steam.

Try the Demo

A free demo is already up on Steam, letting you try out crime scene investigation and lab work before deciding to buy.

It’s already been downloaded more than 80,000 times, and the full game has passed 100,000 wishlists — showing there’s real excitement for it.

Pre-Order Bonus

No pre-order bonuses have been announced so far.

What’s Next

While there’s no official list of future updates yet, games like this usually add new cases, new tools, and quality-of-life improvements after launch. Given how well the demo is doing, more content after release seems likely.

So, Which One Should You Play?

  • Pick Cat Mail Co. if you want to relax, play with friends, and enjoy a slow, cozy story about a cat-run post office.
  • Pick NTE: Neverness to Everness if you want action, a huge city to explore, and lots of characters to collect — and you don’t want to spend any money to start.
  • Pick Forensics: Crime Scene Detective if you love true crime shows and want to feel like a real scientist solving real cases.

Three very different games, three very different moods. Whichever one matches your vibe, all three have free demos or free access, so you can try before you decide.

That’s the best part — you don’t have to guess. Just jump in and see which world you like best.
