Reflection After the Rabbit Notes’ Unfinished Challenge.

The Unfinished Challenge has ended, but my unfinished thoughts have not.

The Rabbit Note prompts shared by Manmeet Singh Bhatia often feel like they somehow find me. As if they know exactly where a story is hiding inside me and quietly ask me to bring it out.

From the first day of every challenge to the last, I keep trying to go deeper. But every time I begin to sink below the surface, life pulls me back up. My children need me. There are meals to make, chores to finish, messages to answer, and a hundred small things waiting for my attention.

Sometimes I wonder what I might write if life had a pause button.

Maybe then I could stay with a prompt a little longer. Maybe I could sit with a memory without rushing away from it. Maybe I could follow a thought all the way to the place it is trying to take me.

To be honest, even on the last day, when I submit my response, I find myself thinking the same thing: I wish I could have gone deeper. I wish I could have stayed there a little longer.

What I’ve written and submitted as an answer to prompt so far doesn’t feel like my deepest words. It feels as if, just when I’m about to reach those deeper parts of myself, life asks me to turn back.

The deeper stories are still there. Waiting. And maybe that’s why every time every challenge feels unfinished to me. Not because I didn’t complete it. But because there is still so much of me left to discover.

Before I end, I want to acknowledge a feeling I’ve struggled to name. After writing many of the Rabbit Note prompts, I was often left with a strange sense of incompleteness as if I had touched something important but hadn’t quite reached its depth.

Perhaps, only now have I found the words for that feeling.
