AD2L S47 Voyager League Week 6 Match Reviews

Week 6 came in like a lion and out like a lamb, if that Lion was a Litleo and the lamb was Arceus, the mythical creator of the Universe and god to all Pokemon. We have seen gods bleed, we saw Michael Bay-esque Truck explosions, and perhaps most importantly, we got to see Chris in a Pink Jumpsuit.
Disinformation Campaign 🕵️ (9–3) vs My Team sucks (SUX) 🎮🧛♂️(5–6) Cementing themselves into the Upper Bracket, DC took no prisoners with this dominating performance. A stand-in forcing ResQ mid both games did SUX no favours as he felt a little lost despite solid laning performances both games. In game 1, midlane was the only beacon of hope that SUX had, losing both sidelanes, but they only drew mid despite the Lesh vs Viper matchup pretty heavily in their favour on paper. ResQ, one of the stronger and most experienced carries in Voyager, looked somewhat lost in the midgame, unable to live through fights even as he picked up kills. Yamii, SUX’s sub, recognized early and correctly that lanes went like shit and he couldn’t afford to go Radiance, but his 20 minute Armlet Deso seemed to only pick him up kills on poor Warlock every fight. In classic DC fashion, it was a little scrappy, with a few more deaths on all cores than they might have liked, but with such dominating performances from Trollbus and Tkhi, the latter claiming over 12 last hits per minute this game despite participating in over half the kills, there was little hope for the SUX Squad. Game 2, I will say, was a little more touch-and-go. Losing 2 lanes put DC on the back foot early, especially with some incredibly hard matchups. Bloodseeker picked up into PL, OD, and Axe shows some serious faith in Tkhi. But truly the star of the show was DavidX on his signature Void Spirit. Limping out of lane with an Urn and Brown Boots, DavidX recognized that the game would not be won by farming, instead opting to start running around picking up kill after kill. His 12 minute treads lead to an 18 minute Mage Slayer, and by the time we saw his Aghs at 26 minutes, he was already approaching too-big-to-fail territory. The most surprising thing to me was that 37 minutes, we didn’t see a single defensive item from the absolute LAD, and certainly no BKB. Trollbus went a pretty sick item build in my opinion, going Radiance to help handle the PL. No Shivas this game is maybe a little wild, but hard to complain about Pipe BKB Bongo Boots on your offlaner. But all in all, another very solid performance from DC, who are looking like super serious contenders for Voyager League champs at this point! Excited to see their playoff run; if they can reign in a bit of the midgame madness, I think even teams like QD will be hard pressed to beat them.
Boromir’s Buyback ⚔️ 💸 (6–5) vs Quasar Dreams 🏆 💤(11–1) All I can say is WOW! I don’t know if anyone had this on their Bingo card, but the first team to draw blood from the undefeated and until now undefeatable champions of Voyager is ex-FOTP ex-Hobbit Hole GOAT Stack, Boromir’s Buyback! Game 1 we saw the draft that I thought gave BB the best chance of winning. Carry Venge, support Veno, mid Sniper, into Keyser’s CK, Red Seal DK, Beef’s Offlane Huskar? Not to mention Matt and Harry on Lich and Hoodwink respectively. Seal got off to a hot start against the Sniper, but a draw for CK against WK and a lost lane for Huskar into the carry Venge just didn’t give BB enough runway to get online. Biggie and Sauce both had incredible impact, from lane onwards; Biggie had more kills than any core on the team outside of Sniper! By the time we saw BKBs on Huskar and Chaos Knight, the damage was done and Venge was rocking Aghs Butterfly Hydra’s Breath (Not first item POG) and simply annihilated everyone. While Game 1 was relatively close, at least early, game 2 was shaped up to be perhaps worse for BB. We had luhhhhhih on his iconic Spectre, into carry Drow of course, Biggie on Wyvern and Sauce on Lich, and Seal on Kunkka for some reason. So color me not surprised but gobsmacked. Not startled but flabbergasted. Shocked, SHOCKED…and yeah, that shocked. Biggie and luhhih, a lane pairing that has been beyond criticism for seasons now, gets crushed. Beef picks up 4 kills in lane (remember this number for later) on Underlord, Biggie’s Wyvern forced to abandon ship pre ten minutes, and Spectre not even picking up a perseverance before 10 minutes. I didn’t mention this earlier, but the Midlane performance from Dark Ace was a little surprising to me both games. DA is one the best players we’ve had in Voyager full stop, more than deserving of his chip last season despite being pulled off the main roster last minute. Sniper into DK was a hard matchup, but watching the Kunkka vs Wind matchup, it really felt like he wasn’t really sure how it was supposed to go or how exactly to play it. 40 last hits not the worst for this bracket, but when Kunkka rolls out of laning phase 1–0–2 and nearly 5k networth, including of course a full blademail, there are choppy waters ahead. Last but certainly not least, we had the Bot Lane Incident of 2026. Keyser, one of my favourite players and carries, matched up favourably into Jezzer’s Centaur, but Jezzer and Sauce have a pretty spotless history of coming out of lanes even or ahead, regardless of matchup. Keyser and Matt decided that record needed a bit of amending, racking up 6 kills in lane, unanswered for 8 minutes! It should not bode well that Jezzer top fragged this game with 2, both of which were on Megamatt’s Undying. This game spiraled out of control from there, with QD’s standard game plan of 5-man deathballing out the window and the backup plan of space creation followed suit not long after; 23 minutes was all it took for BB to wipe out all T2 towers. And to be clear, this was not some Pugna Shaman Lesh bullshit demolition draft. This was a Drow with Dragon Lance just absolutely machine-gunning down towers with a handful of fat fuckers backing her up. Final Score: 43–4 in 32 minutes. I strongly believe this outcome is different with Arch around, though there seemed to be some kind of overall breakdown this game (perhaps stemming from QD simply not being used to playing from behind?). Spec commiting to a 30 minute Radiance? Windranger going crit after mael? All in a game where they basically couldn’t stay alive or find any space to farm? Remove it from your WICKED mind that I’d even imply that this win was not 100% earned by the noble and steadfast BB squad, but I think it is worth noting that even QD is not beyond reproach. Is it that their mistakes have been masked previously by the overall stellar team performances? Are there chinks in their armor that us ignoble peasants can stab at in the vain hope of drawing the crimson drops we so crave? Or is this just no-fucks-given end-of-season clownery? No Arch, no bane mid, no way to say….
SlugPups 🐌🐶(8–3) vs Josh A. All Time Low 😢⬇️ (4–8) A somewhat chill 2–0 for the slimey puppers, especially without the albatross of Wills hanging around their neck. Hard to even say who gets max credit this game one. Of course, Voidhunter, an ex-teammate of mine and Voyager Champion of Season 45, had a flawless performance on Medusa mid. GUNDAM crushed safelane on his signature AM, porkchwop pulled out Pugna for the first time this season(?), but the offlane performance of Kenny and Master Roshi was frankly a thing of beauty. Aggression, Farm, Sustain…Night Stalker plus Undying maybe shouldn’t have looked so strong but god dammit they did! Outside of Gamut making some plays, the team seemingly could do nothing into the overwhelming power and mobility of Kenny’s Stalker, while Pugna and AM went full wrecking crew on the map. Over in 30 minutes, but felt like it could have been called much sooner, JAATL just didn’t seem to have a foothold in the game. And if Game 1 was a little lopsided, the sequel was a free-fall into the Sarlac pit — and this time? Boba ain’t crawlin’ out. Kenny took a back seat to this one, where we saw GUNDAM back mid on Timbersaw absolute decimate Gamut’s Tide, running rampant pretty much the rest of the game. Voidhunter decided that 1 death was too many, finishing BOTH GAMES without a single involuntary trip to the fountain. It may have been that ATL lost their mental after game one, or that SlugPups plus everyone’s favourite Canadian Dingo was just too much to handle, but not picking up a single kill until 13 minutes? Losing all T1s by 15 minutes? All members of the team getting outfarmed and Badly Mogged by porkchwop’s pos 5 Warlock? It just wasn’t their night.
MOTW: Dually Truck Dumpster Fire (2–9)🚮🔥vs JoJo 🕺👻(5–6) Not the outcome that Dually was hoping for, as their destiny is no longer fully in their hands, BUT a stellar performance from JoJo shows that they are no bottom tier team in Voyager! Game 1 was a little hard to watch, if we’re being honest. The Radiant Fountain nearly top fragged this game with 2 kills, barely edged out by Pollo’s Necro. But at 6–56 in 30 minutes, it’s hard to even talk much about the game. Dotaho put on an absolute clinic, and Carry sub YPeste made their AD2L debut in style, doing crazy work this game. Though I’d say maybe even overshadowed slightly by E85, standing in for YG and putting on a Spirit Breaker Clinic with 39 assists and 11 kills! Folks that’s a casual 90% kill participation; tell me again that supports can’t win games? His only death this game was to Radiant Fountain for fuck’s sake — literally the only thing that could take him down was an invulnerable building that shoots infinitely scaling damage at him. Great showing from the squad on this one. And with the pressure off, game 2 felt a little less stressful. For JoJo at least. Jerm’s standin Super Saiyan was just unable to get off the ground this game on Kez, as dotaho’s Sniper clipped his wings and Mama-Birded him bullets all game. YPeste again had an excellent showing, top fragging on the Slark into a classic matchup of Centaur Undying. I have to give a shoutout to Arc, who hopped in to fill Zyle’s clown shoes earlier this season and has been doing an admirable job, for really trying to put the team on his back this game. Keeping pace with the farm of a 19–1 Slark, ultimately he just wasn’t able to do it alone, especially into the Offlane Doom who was happy to target him down every fight. With this loss, Dually now needs both a 2–0 and for The Mittenses to get 2–0'd just so they can fight for that 8th place slot.
If anyone cares, I had a lovely weekend with my beautiful wife and singing drunken Karaoke with other wedding guests at various levels of competance. Toastie confirmed my rendition of “Swimming Pools” was surprisingly solid, and I can confirm that the drunkest Chinese guy you’ve ever seen rambling out what were surely meant to be the lyrics to “Country Roads” was absolutely fucking peak. Go Knicks, Go Canes, and Josh Hokit is a fucking piece of shit 🤡
