How many more men like that are left in Russia?

In Russia, a new kind of army has been born overnight — the army of a very wealthy state, where high wages are paid not only to the soldiers themselves, but also to their families in the event of their death or injury. In other words, a modern mercenary army, which by definition cannot be a mass army because it is too expensive. Yet in Russia, it is a mass army, a fighting army, and consequently, one with mass casualties. This implies an unimaginable burden on future generations.

But let them, those future generations, deal with that later. Right now, families have found an opportunity to trade their men quickly and for big money. A completely worthless, some half-useless drunk of a man, who in ordinary peaceful life is of less use than a barren goat, can now be sold for several million rubles upfront. Then, when he gets killed, his death will bring in even more millions, followed, presumably, by a lifetime pension. Plus getting the child into a nursery, kindergarten, and university. What we are witnessing is an unprecedented spike in the value of a commodity that just yesterday was worth nothing but a headache. No cryptocurrency has ever experienced such a massive rally. Clearly, this cannot go on for long, so one must hurry to sell him before the market crashes.

In other words, every family in Russia, if it so desires, can become a small enterprise, capable of striking gold in the moment through one, or better yet, a couple of trade deals. The commodity, of course, is specific, so one needs to get lucky: he must reach his grave without any complications along the way, without kicking up a fuss or pulling a stunt. His death must happen publicly and with all the proper paperwork. Naturally, for the success of such a family enterprise, the so-called “cripple regiments” (kalech-polki) are a highly successful invention, since a disabled man can by no means be allowed back home: that would completely wipe out the business. And who needs that? The question is rhetorical.

Another question concerns those very men who submissively go to kill and die for the sake of their families’ presumed prosperity. How many more of these uncomplaining souls are left in Russia?

В России прямо вдруг родилась новая армия — армия очень богатого государства, где много платят не только самим солдатам, но и семьям после их гибели или увечья. Иными словами, современная наемная армия, которая никак не может быть массовой, ибо слишком дорога, но в России она массовая, воюющая и потому с массовой же гибелью. Следовательно, с немыслимой нагрузкой на будущие поколения.

Но это они, поколения, потом пусть разбираются, а сейчас в семьях появилась возможность торговать мужчинами быстро и за большие деньги. Эдакий никакущий выпивающий мужичонка, от которого в обычной мирной жизни толку меньше, чем от козла, может быть продан за несколько лямов сразу, а потом, когда убьют, то труп его — за еще несколько, и пенсия потом на всю жизнь, наверное. И ребенка в ясли-садик-вуз. То есть произошел невиданный взлет в цене товара, какой вчера еще не стоил ничего, кроме геморроя. Подобного взлета никакие криптомонеты не переживали. Понятно, что так не может долго продолжаться, поэтому надо спешить продать его, пока цена не обвалилась.

То есть каждая семья в России, если хочет, может стать малым предприятием, где за одну, лучше пару-тройку торговых сделок можно обогатиться в моменте. Товар, конечно, специфический, потому должно повезти, чтоб без проблем он добрался до могилы, чтоб не взбрыкнул по пути, не выкинул фортеля какого, но чтоб смерть — на людях и с нужными документами. Разумеется, для успешности подобного семейного предприятия «калеч-полки» — весьма удачное изобретение, поскольку назад инвалида домой никак нельзя: это ж весь бизнес обнулится. А оно надо? Вопрос риторический.

Другой вопрос в этих самых мужичках, что покорно идут убивать и умирать ради предполагаемого благополучия семей. Сколько их на Руси еще таких безропотных?
