Verity was one of the best books I have read as a reader, and yes, it truly deserved the hype it received. Colleen Hoover should genuinely consider exploring this genre more because she executed it exceptionally well.

The story revolves around three main characters: Verity, Jeremy, and Lowen. It keeps you hooked right until the very end, and when the plot twist hits, it leaves you questioning everything and rethinking your own choices. This is the only Colleen Hoover book I would confidently recommend to everyone. As a mystery and thriller lover, it’s a book I could read again and again.

The story begins with Lowen, a struggling writer who unexpectedly gets the chance of a lifetime when she is asked to complete a bestselling author’s unfinished book series. Verity, the original writer, is unable to continue after a serious accident, and Lowen is chosen because her writing style closely matches Verity’s.

As Lowen moves into Verity’s house to better understand her work, she comes across an unpublished manuscript that was never meant to be read. What she discovers inside slowly begins to change the way she sees Verity, the house, and even the people around her. With each page, the atmosphere grows darker and more unsettling, leaving Lowen confused and deeply disturbed.

At the same time, Lowen grows closer to Jeremy, Verity’s husband, which further complicates her emotions and decisions. Strange incidents around the house make Lowen question what is real and what isn’t, creating a constant sense of unease that keeps both her and the reader on edge.

As the story unfolds, secrets begin to surface, and nothing feels as simple as it first appeared. The ending forces you to question the truth, the characters’ intentions, and how easily perceptions can be manipulated.

Overall, Verity stands out as one of the most gripping books I’ve read by Colleen Hoover. Unlike her romance-driven stories, this one leans heavily into psychological tension and discomfort, which made it far more engaging for me as a reader. It’s not a comforting read, but it is a memorable one.

What worked most for me was how the story constantly makes you question the truth and the characters’ intentions. The uneasiness stays with you even after you finish the book, and the ending leaves enough room for interpretation to keep your thoughts spinning.

If you enjoy dark, unsettling stories that play with the idea of perception and morality, Verity is definitely worth reading. It’s the kind of book that proves Colleen Hoover can excel outside of romance, and it’s the one I’d recommend the most from everything I’ve read by her.
