First Steps
I very clearly remember the first time I wanted to become a journalist.
It was not a “Eureka!” moment — just a silly day in school, reading a storybook, Geronimo Stilton. I was so enamored by that book — the story, the information, the simplicity with which it pulled me in. I was in 7th grade. I decided on my career that day.
“Are you unaware of what happens to reporters in our country? You’ll get shot right through your head!” my grandpa wailed.
My parents didn't seem bothered. Most people were just shocked to find out that there were courses other than B. Com available for a commerce student.
I went ahead and had the most amazing college and educational experience ever, in the prestigious MOP Vaishnav College for Women. That was the first time I was interested in studying (turns out it happens when you learn and do what you love).
But life has a way of.. well life-ing. So many years later, today — dated February 11th, 2026 — this is the first real time I’ve put pen to paper. And it’s not even an article; it’s a 101 on me.
Well, you gotta start somewhere.
This is my first step towards the world of Print journalism.
