My Morning Tarot: Two of Pentacles

Tarot of Mystical Moments

Tarot of Mystical Moments

Flexibility in Transformation. Balance Through Change. Blending Energies.

This is evolutionary, transformative energy that we must be flexible and strong enough to hold. The Two of Pentacles reminds us that life is constant change. We are meant to allow that change to flow through us, around us and for us without clinging to any of it. Here, when we accept this flow we become ever expanding like the universe itself. Are you able to be adaptable, agile and accepting of this transformation?

In the illustration we see a graceful woman balancing on one foot atop of a skyscraper. She balances infinity in the palm of her hands. He focused gaze is upwards towards the energy she is handling, not downward to where she has been. There is a constant movement implied in the infinity symbol and the two spheres that seem to move through it. She, however, is still and balanced.

Change cannot be stopped. Of course we all want to believe that we can direct this change, and that is the best we can hope for. Everything changes. Even that which appears as unchanged is in a process of transformation. It is just slower. Think of how stones are shaped by water and wind. How the firm earth itself can turn to mud. Everything we think of as solid and fixed is actually shifting. The Two of Pentacles points us to continual transformations in and around us. It asks us to accept divine timing in these changes.

Think about how much change you have experienced in the past week, month, year, decade. We change jobs, friends, locations, motivations and more. Becoming comfortable with this natural process is vital to our happiness and discovery of joy in this life. While it can feel disorienting, it is inevitable. And…it is for our own growth.

In the Thoth deck illustration we see the ouroboros as the infinity symbol and the alchemical elements as part of the yin yang symbols. A call to notice changes externally and internally. How we have experiences with changes within that mirror the external…and external changes that mirror the internal.

The hard thing to remember in shifting moments, when we become aware of the transformation in process, is….change supports stability and stability supports change. It is never one or the other. In all things, it is always both. Actually…both/and.

As I was shuffling, my thought was about what this cocooning period of rest is recovery for. I was hoping for a feeling about what is to come, but the future is not ready to share its shape. I was pointed to just holding the space for the transformation to take root. I thought of the butterfly, the snake shedding it’s skin. I know I am deep in this process right now. That part is clear. I know I cannot rush any outcome, only lean into the natural timing of this transformation. Be still and balanced as the force shifts and shapes what will be formed.

In the Cosmic Tribe deck I read from for decades, the illustration shows the evolutionary energy so clearly. That ouroboros is present and giving grounding shape to the butterfly like human who is gaining their wings. Merging heaven and earth into one vessel.

This energy asks us to allow the process of change to move and work on us. Balance yourself as this ripples through and do not cling to any sense of security, identity or form. You may share your desires, wishes and wants with the force as you incubate in its presence. But we must accept that the higher self knows better what is truly needed and will offer us the most in our evolution.

Today might be a good day for some yoga…balance poses. Also reflect on the ways you have already accepted change.

Personally, this feels like a good one to shift my focus with. I have been pulling a card every day for a year and writing about it. It started on my instagram page, and then moved to this platform. It has been a wonderful process to deepen connection with this symbolic language. But…I feel ready to shift this practice to allow expansion for myself. This will be my last daily pull. I will be doing these occasionally…weekly maybe…monthly if that feels right. The energy I have used for this will shift into my art practice and yoga. It feels like a natural transition. Of course I will still be offering tarot consultations for those interested. But…I feel called to redirect this energy…for balance.

Welcoming the changes and accepting the evolution underway. How about you?

Side note: I do love to pick songs and associations for the energies that come through tarot. I’ve been throwing songs on a playlist all year and figure I would just share that here. Ending 2022 is my 4 hour playlist I kept thinking I would pair down. But I think all these songs have a feeling that this time period is tuning into, at least for me. Hope you enjoy…
