Prologue: Mina, Pocket, and the Workshop

Prologue: Mina, Pocket, and the Workshop

I’ve always loved tools.
Not because I’m a serious DIY person. I’m not.
But I’ve always admired workshops, well-made tools, and people who can build things elegantly with their hands.
So that’s where this little series takes place.
A warm, slightly cluttered workshop filled with tools, trays of screws, clipboards, coffee mugs, unfinished projects, and a suspicious number of carabiners.
(Carabiners have fascinated me for years. I always carry one or two somewhere.)
It’s the kind of place where something is always being repaired, organized, improved, or, more often than not, accidentally broken.
And in that workshop live two characters.
Mina
Mina keeps the workshop running.
She builds things, fixes things, and usually knows what’s wrong before anyone else does.
She’s calm, kind, practical, and remarkably difficult to surprise.
Mostly because she’s learned to expect chaos.
Especially from Pocket.
Pocket is a small workshop robot whose only goal is to help.
Pocket is loyal, sincere, and takes his job very seriously.
The problem is that Pocket understands the world according to rules that make perfect sense to Pocket.
If one screw falls off a workbench, Pocket may decide that every screw needs to be counted.
If the workshop is messy, Pocket may conclude that all screws should be vacuumed away.
If a screw seems lonely, Pocket may determine that it requires housing and emotional support.
Pocket never means to create problems.
He’s just solving a different problem than everyone else.
The Stories
Mina lives in reality.
Pocket lives in Pocket Reality.
Most episodes begin when Pocket notices something unusual and decides to help.
Mina then discovers what Pocket has done.
Sometimes the workshop becomes cleaner.
Sometimes stranger.
Sometimes every screw disappears.
But somehow things always work out.
The stories are small, absurd, and hopefully a little funny.
No world-saving missions.
No epic battles.
Usually just a screw, a clipboard, a vacuum cleaner, and a robot with too much initiative.
This is the world I’ll be building with AI.
Let’s see where it goes.
