Starlight Reflections: Honouring NZ Athletes, Supporting Self-Discovery

This collection serves as a tribute to the remarkable 204 athletes who proudly represented New Zealand at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In realms of blue, where stars ignite, For Aotearoa’s heroes, shining bright, Two hundred four, with hearts aflame, At Paris’ games, they stake their claim.

Red, white, and blue, the colors fly, Beneath the Southern Cross, they try, Each athlete’s spirit, bold and free, A tapestry of victory.

Like mandalas, their talents blend, A symphony of strength, no end, For every leap, and every throw, A nation’s pride begins to grow.

From ocean’s depths to mountain’s peak, Their dedication, they bespeak, With every stride, and every race, They etch their names in time and space.

So let the cheers resound and soar, For Kiwis brave, forevermore, In Paris’ light, their legends gleamed, Aotearoa’s Olympic team.

A tapestry of stars, two hundred and four, Each woven with minutes, four thousand and more. Three thousand six hundred and twenty-five meters of thread, Cotton so soft, where vibrant hues spread.

Eight hundred and sixteen bamboo sticks stand tall, A framework of dreams, embracing one and all. A tribute it weaves, with intricate grace, To athletes of Zealand, who run in the race.

For Paris they journey, with spirits so bright, Two hundred and four souls, shining their light. A gift born of labor, of passion and art, To Devachan’s purpose, a helping heart.

May each weave, each carefully placed line, A message of courage and unity enshrine. May this mandala of stars, a symbol so grand, Bring strength to their efforts, throughout the land.

The collection of the 204 star mandalas have exhibited Brisbane City Square Library in December 2024 and from today they are offered to Devachan in New Zealand as support to launching the art of Self discovery, a constellation of gratitude honouring New Zealand’s Olympians.

It is also a small part of the Odyssey Starlight Mandala Project, with the ambitious and heartfelt aim of crafting 10,000 stars as gifts for every athlete participating in the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
