A Child Without Parents

My old friend just lost her dad; several years ago, her mother already passed away. She said her dad's cancer was growing so fast that an operation was not even implemented. I said that she has already done what you can do. We talked a lot about our past until she said:

“I have lost both of my parents. Would you adopt me?” I was laughing a little, then replied, “Should I?” Actually, my father already passed away when I was so young, and now I live alone. My mother lives far away. So it seems that we are both alone.

Last night, a question popped up in my head. Who are we when we have no parents? We’re no longer children of our parents. It’s sad because we go back home to see our parents, and when they’re no longer there, a home doesn't feel like home, isn’t it?

The identity of a child of someone feels safer because we have others that we refer to. Also, sometimes there is a question like “Who is the emergency contact?” We can put our siblings,,, but their family will be their priority, you’re not too significant for them. One of my friend even ask me if I can be their emergency contact since they live alone. I put my sister as my emergency contact but I think she need me more then I need her. It’s hard to depend on someone except your parents. I know not everyone have privillege of having a responsible parents. They already start to be independent from the start.

At the end, we come alone then we return alone.

I hope all of my friends, all of children without parents, you guys always having warm meal, warm pillow, and surround by warm people.
