Welcome to Crann na beatha Short Stories and Poetry for Feb. 9th, 2024

Another week, another podcast with something to make you think a little bit.

This week, I bring you an interview with a young man who hosts a podcast with his crew, called The Scuttlebutt. I will let him tell you what that term means. My mission today is to bring all of you a perspective of what’s going on in the country and around the world from the viewpoint of the younger generations.

I just had another birthday and decided that I needed a different perspective on the news from around the world. A younger person’s perspective that is. He is a veteran, still on active duty. If you want to learn more about him, listen to the show. For security reasons, I didn’t ask him any questions about his job or his command. I didn’t offer much about my own military exploits either.

We talk about the political and immigrant situation around the world as I ask him some questions about his thoughts on all of that, plus what he saw when he was in Europe last to give us an idea of what the younger Europeans think about us across the pond.

I will give you a heads up, I started using a new software platform last week and this was the first show that I officially used it on so the video and sound quality are sub-par by my standards. I blame it on my lack of proper training before using it for the first time.

I have another interview ready to go for next week and the sound quality is somewhat better as I tweaked a few things before recording the interview. The video quality is still only 720p because, as I learned afterwards, you only get 1080p if you upgrade to the companies Pro version. Needless to say, I won’t be renewing my subscription when it comes due.

I hope you still get something out of this interview, despite the technical issues. I think it is important that we listen to everyone, no matter whether they are boomers like myself or Gen X’ers, Millennial’s or younger. All opinions count. Something I will be highlighting this year as we get closer to November.
