In order to prevent exploitation, the **Surrogacy Act in India** forbids commercial surrogacy and only allows altruistic surrogacy for lawfully married Indian heterosexual couples. According to the Act, the surrogate must be a close relative between the ages of 25 and 35 and may only serve as a surrogate once. It provides moral, controlled, and open surrogacy practices across the country by barring foreigners, NRIs, same-sex couples, and single people.
