Nyolz Is Over Yapping Ep 5: Chameleon

So many people are chameleons in this world. I’m not even gonna say “wolf in sheep’s clothing” because we’re gonna look at it like this:

Sheep = kind 😌, innocent 😇, humble 😊 people Wolves = mean/hostile 🙄, shady 🤥, proud people (I couldn’t find an emoji for it)

Now that I’ve given the contrast, let us begin by defining a chameleon.

A chameleon is a type of lizard primarily known for its ability to change color. Chameleons are also recognized for their remarkable camouflage abilities, which help them blend into their surroundings.

Hear that definition? I obviously removed the other details but focused on these two main characteristics: change color and camouflage abilities.

Do you ever notice those features in people? Do you ever notice these features in yourself?

Yes, I have said that (you thought you were safe 🤣).

We are chameleons. Everyone knows a different part of you, and you could lie to me and say,

“Oh no, I’m the same person everywhere 🤓” Thanks for lying to yourself.

When you’re talking to a kid, aren’t there certain topics you filter? When you’re talking to a higher authority (boss or teachers), don’t you act a little modest?

If you’re not ready to call yourself out, let me do it 😭

One time, I sat down and thought about how I am with my church friends vs my friends. Wow, I was shocked.

With my church friends, I’m more of that bubbly girl most of the time — talk about school stuff (not everything, obviously, those who remember EP 1).

Then with my friends, I’m the real me 🌟 — the version of myself I sometimes hate but that’s the least performative.

It reminds me of that saying:

“The stage is where we hide.” Ironic, but true.

You’re not bad if you’re a chameleon. Sometimes it’s just safety, belonging, and peace.

Wolves aren’t bad, sheep aren’t bad either. What if the sheep wants to be the wolf so they can get more respect? And what if the wolf wants to be the sheep to be more approachable, more acceptable 😭💔?

Now a question for you: If you were your true self all the time, would some of the relationships you have still last 🤔?
