Are You Still Voting For A Version Of Yourself That You Didn’t Choose?

Are You Still Voting For A Version Of Yourself That You Didn’t Choose?

Most of the limiting beliefs we have about ourselves were implanted in us at a very young age.
I’m not saying our parents did it deliberately, but without knowing it, we all probably grew up believing in something about ourselves, because it came from our parents.
I grew up the youngest of three. I have two older brothers. A few years back, one of them told me the story that, growing up, our father told them that it was their job to always look out for their little sister.
On the surface, this sounds very sweet and innocent. Dad was just looking out for his little girl.
And my brothers got the message. They’ve always been there for me.
But the message I received?
That I always needed their help.
That’s a limiting belief that I had to de-program myself from. So much so, that I moved across the ocean from them.
The “incapable” label lingered over me like a dark cloud.
A lot of the assumptions we make about ourselves are simply old programming, which are no longer true.

It’s like voting for a particular political party.
Some people continue to vote for the party they assume they belong to. Either their family always votes that way, or their culture, or community.
“That’s just how we vote” they may be told.
They don’t stop to think “Is this candidate going to make my life better?”
If you’re smart, you vote for the party that you believe will make your life better, not the party you were told you belonged to.
You get to decide.
The same goes with assumptions and limiting beliefs.
Ask yourself a similar question as above: “Do my assumptions about me make my life better?”
*Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create.” Oprah Winfrey*
Every time we let an old assumption run its program on us, we are giving away our power. Just like every time we vote in a certain way because “that’s just how we vote” we also give away our power.
Reality responds to the assumptions we hold about ourselves. So, if our assumptions are holding us back, maybe it’s time to program new assumptions.
Replace:
“I’m not capable” with “I have proof that I am capable”
“I’m not good with money” with “I can learn to be good with money”
“I’m just not good enough” with “I’m just as worthy as the next person”

“Simply dare to assume you are what you want to be and you will compel everyone to play their part.” Neville Goddard in The Power Of Awareness
If your life isn’t where you want it to be, take a look at the assumptions that you hold about yourself. Some assumptions are running quietly in the background, so we need to really take a good look for them.
Look at your assumptions as if they were a political candidate:
- What does this assumption/candidate do for me?
- Will I be better off with or without it?
- Will my life change for the better or should I choose a different option?
Awareness of the limiting belief is a great first step.
Then, replacing it with one that will actually serve you, is even more powerful.
You are under no obligation to continue living under burdonsome assumptions, that don’t allow you to be the version of yourself you wish to become.
You can cast a new vote for yourself.
