Legends never die!

T1, the crowd favorite team, has once again won the League of Legends World Championship this 2024 against China’s Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in a nerve-wracking best-of-5 game with a 3–2.

This is T1’s 5th time claiming the throne in world championship, as well as T1’s OG player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s, who also claimed this season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The finals was a rollercoaster ride for both T1 and BLG. There was not a certainty in each game, for both teams fought with all their might to close the gap.

Here is a short recap of Worlds 2024 final games:

BLG establishing assertiveness on Game 1

Drawing the first kill of the game, BLG ganked and killed T1 Gumayusi’s controversial AD Carry pick, Caitlyn, exactly 1 minute into the game.

Consecutively, the opposing team managed to kill 2 more of T1’s league.

T1 redeemed by killing BLG’s ON and Elk at the top lane nearing the gap.

BLG Elk, however, blew the just ignited hope of T1 by getting a triple kill with Ashe’s sharp and precise arrows during the succeeding teamfight, deciding the ownership of BLG in the first game as they kept the pressure and wide gap on for the rest of the short-lived game.

Ending with a 3–18, just 27 minutes into the game, unusual for a League of Legends match, T1 was completely dominated by BLG on the first match.

The ‘T’ in T1 stands for a tie

Paying attention to the previous mistakes they had during game 1, T1 picked perfect picks enough to out damage BLG in the second game.

BLG, however, settled with game 1’s Ashe and Rumble.

T1 had an early lane swap which seemingly placed them in advantage due to the evident damage gap they were dealing against BLG.

Game 2 was decided almost in favor of T1 immediately as BLG mercilessly did not stand a chance in every teamfight engaged.

Throughout the match, T1 was immovable even after fiercely diving turrets after turrets during clashes.

The game ended with an 18–3, 27 minutes in, evening out the previous loss of T1.

BLG for two in Game 3

Grabbing the first blood for the third time during finals, BLG took down T1 Oner’s Vi.

Oner must have been a good appetizer for BLG as they managed to get 5 consecutive kills to 0, leaving T1 winning game 3 on edge.

Ahead in gold, BLG’s carries wiped off the enemy team 21 minutes in, giving them the chance to dominate the Baron and push through the enemy turrets.

With a huge objectives and gold difference, T1 hung by a thread as BLG secures game 3.

T1’s never say die spirit on Game 4

BLG casted intimidation on the bottom lane early by ganking and killing T1 Zeus three consecutive times, once again, claiming the first blood.

T1’s Faker managed to won a 1v1 on the top lane that BLG made sure would not happen again by responding in a flash.

Team ganks were not in favor of T1 early into the game, even though there was not much of a difference between golds and other objectives.

In the 20-minute mark, however, T1’s Faker decided to engage mid, turning the game around.

Although still slightly behind in kills, T1 had an objective advantage being ahead in gold and turrets, later helping them in advancing in teamfights.

Just like that, the reigning world champions did not let BLG end the series on game 4, pushing a do-or-die situation between two leagues.

The Tie-Breaker Game

It is no surprise that BLG took the first blood again during game 5, making it five out of five in the final series. T1 Faker’s Galio was the first to be killed as BLG Xun and Knight’s duo made a surprised attack in the mid lane early into the game.

T1 Faker sought revenge on a teamfight taking out BLG ON, as they win this first teamfight ever of the final game.

BLG took this by heart and invaded the top lane, evening out the kills between the two.

Game 5 cannot be described by anything but balanced. Both teams are giving and taking, making it unpredictable and more heart-stopping than ever.

The unkillable Faker stood out among everyone during the final game. His engages were always in favor of the team, later putting BLG on a bitter dream, with a 12–6.

During the game, Faker also marked his 500th kill in his Worlds career, making Worlds 2024 more special than ever for Korea’s pride League of Legends team, T1, with the unstoppable legends, Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, and Keria.
