Do we need a Virtual Link in OSPF when a Stub Area is present?

If there’s a Stub(Stub, Totally Stubby, NSSA, or Totally NSSA) area in the middle and we want to set up a Virtual link. A Virtual link needs Type-4 and Type-5 LSA to go through a transit area, but Stub areas block these LSAs, which means we can’t set up a Virtual link in Stub areas.

The below topics are really very well explained in packetroute.com.

  1. What is Virtual Link in OSPF?
  2. Why is a Virtual Link Required?
  3. What Happens if there is STUB Area?
  4. Troubleshooting Commands
