Why I Wear What I Wear

In addition to wanting to know about some of the gowns I wear to perform, some of you have been asking about the clothes I wear to practice. I must confess I do enjoy clothes a lot, as they are not just a form of expression, also, for me, wearable art.

In a few upcoming posts then I am going to write about some of my different practice outfits, and explain a bit about why I wear what I wear.

In the video above I am wearing a bright orange sweater from Zara, a company that specializes in making very high-end fashion affordable, which is a great idea. Their core values are found in four simple terms: beauty, clarity, functionality and sustainability. I see these things in everything I wear from them, and this sweater is just one example. If I had to name the color I would call it “neon tangerine”. I’m grateful to the person who chose this color and designed it!

I love vibrant colors, as I feel they energize both the viewer and the wearer. What you can also see is that the sleeves are very full, which makes it easy to practice in it. The sweater is also very warm, and it gives a nice cozy feeling whenever I wear it. Also, with the large turtleneck, it makes a nice statement along with the sleeves.

The skirts from Rouge Vif feature beautiful shades of blue, green, and deep orange. Rouge Vif is a Japanese brand that was established in 1996.
