The Most Underrated Show Everybody Should See

(A Fourth Psych Movie Is a Matter of When, Not If)

It seems like we’ve entered an era where there is an overwhelming number of new shows, yet an underwhelming number of good ones. As of late we have witnessed the fall of many beloved franchises, such as Marvel and Star Wars, while also being plagued by remake after remake. So, now what? You’ve been scrolling every subscription you own, trying to find anything that sound good. Luckily, there’s an underrated show waiting for you.

Psych follows Shawn Spencer who was trained by his father to become a detective for the Santa Barbra Police Department, though he instead hops from one job to the next as a young adult. After calling in too many tips to the police, he’s arrested under suspicion of assisting a robbery. When the police don’t believe he’s hyper observant, he pretends to be psychic. Before long, he finds himself working as a consultant to a missing person’s case with his reluctant best friend, Burton Guster.

If you’ve ever wondered what Sherlock would be like as a comedy, Psych is your answer. Its witty humor has something for everyone, from its hilarious banter to the endless pop culture references. Though the majority of cases Shawn and Gus take on are murder cases, the humor helps lighten what could otherwise be a dark show.

And yes, with eight seasons a show is bound to start going downhill and while that does happen to Psych it’s able to end on a high note. The writing is pure genius, with its mix of the previously mentioned comedy and dramatic cases. The characters are all wonderfully written and have satisfying character growth throughout the runtime.

Comedy: 9/10

Characters: 10/10

Plots: 10/10
