An unidentified drone fell in Taba, Egypt, early in the morning on Friday, injuring six victims, according to the Spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The missile’s explosion was near a building adjacent to a hospital in Taba City, located in the Southern Sinai. This incident resulted in light injuries to the affected individuals, who were treated and released from the hospital. Nuweiba city has encountered such missiles but fortunately, the explosion took place in a deserted area. Concerned authorities are investigating this incident.
The Israeli side also commented on this incident on their official X account.
“In recent hours, an air threat was detected in the Red Sea region, and warplanes were called in to deal with it,” said Avichay Adraee, the Head of the Arab Media Division of the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.
He added that the matter is under investigation. They estimate that this threat caused the injury suffered by Egypt. To strengthen protection in the region in the face of threats coming from the Red Sea vicinity, Israel, the United States (US), and Egypt will cooperate.
Hours later, the Egyptian Air Force was conducting aerial surveillance over Taba and Nuweiba cities on the Red Sea, following what happened in the morning.
On the same day, in the evening, the Spokesman of the Egyptian Armed Forces, on their official social media accounts, revealed the results of the investigation. Two unmanned aircraft were heading from the south of the Red Sea to the north, and one of them was targeted outside Egyptian airspace in the Gulf of Aqaba region, which resulted in some of its debris falling in an uninhabited area in Nuweiba in addition to the fall of the other in Taba.
The Air Force and Air Defense Forces, as per the announcement, are intensifying the work of securing Egyptian airspace in all strategic directions of the country.
Before that incident, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) posted on their official accounts that they detected flying rockets from Yemen but they hit Damascus, Syria instead of an Israeli city as it was targeted.
All of this aligns with the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza on its 21st day after the October 7 attacks by Hamas.
This isn’t the first for Egypt to receive strikes since the Israel-Gaza war. A few days prior, an Israeli military tank inadvertently damaged one of the observation towers within the Rafah crossing into Gaza, which is located within the Egyptian border. The Israeli spokesperson, Adraee, immediately wrote an apology post on X, claiming that its forces had committed a mistake. The Egyptian Army spokesperson affirmed the other side’s apology in posts on its official social media accounts.
Since the war started in Gaza by Israel to wipe out Hamas, as they declared, there were times when Rafah Crossing was hit five times, deterring humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza as there was no agreement with Israel to permit any supplies to the Strip.
