Why We Don’t Need Humanoid Robots

Humanoid robots are the new hype. Especially in the US and parts of Asia, they seem to be “sprouting” everywhere. And honestly, I keep asking myself: why?

Is it just another step toward even more comfort? Another gadget for people who already have everything?

I’m sitting here with Adipositas Grad 3, waiting for my consultation about bariatric surgery. Sure — a household robot would be great. Maybe it could help me finally break the 200‑kg mark. And while we’re at it, why not add a sex robot too? Reproduction is overrated anyway.

Humanity has always had a talent for absurd projects. There are plenty of them. I could rant about this endlessly.

In space exploration, robots make sense. But even there, they won’t be humanoid. They’ll be specialized machines — like the ones we already have today. Outside of that, I honestly don’t see the need.

But humans are “technology‑addicted apes”. Just because something is possible doesn’t mean we should do it.

To me, this whole humanoid‑robot trend feels like a waste of resources. Maybe the world needs more humanistic projects, not more technology that adds stress to an already overstimulated world.

I wish people would think more carefully about what they build. We have all the time in the world — as far as I know, the black hole at the center of the Milky Way isn’t going to explode anytime soon.

So why the rush?

Sure, we all die eventually. But I doubt robots will make life that much better.

I’ll still be here with my Adipositas Grad 3, in a world that often feels toxic to me. But everyone can choose for themselves.

You don’t have to follow every technological craze blindly.
