Mastering Up/Down Mode on IDAO Forecast: Your Step-by-Step Guide

The IDAO team continues to surprise users with exciting features. Most recently, they’ve introduced Up/Down, a fast-paced binary options mode added alongside the classic forecasting format. In this guide, you’ll learn exactly what this new mode is, how to use it, and why it’s worth diving into right now.

First time hearing about IDAO? Or still a bit green? Check out my beginner’s guide where everything is broken down step-by-step. This article focuses only on the Up/Down mode so you can jump right in.

What Is Up/Down Mode?

Imagine watching the market and suddenly feeling that the price is about to move — either up or down. Up/Down mode gives you a simple way to act on that hunch. Your task? Predict whether the next 5, 15, or 30-minute candle will close higher or lower than the current one. That’s it. No complex calculations, just quick, confident calls. (Though a few important nuances are worth knowing — don’t worry, we’ll get there.)

On the IDAO platform, you now have two forecasting modes:

  • Classic — The well-known standard prediction format.
  • Up/Down — A fast, fixed-reward format for instant action and quicker results.

How It Works: Step-by-Step

1. Connect Your Wallet

Go to the IDAO Forecast site and connect your MetaMask or another supported wallet. Make sure you’ve got a little POL to cover tiny transaction fees.

2. Enter Up/Down Mode

On the homepage, click into the “Up/Down” section (top left corner).

3. Pick a Token

You can currently choose from BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, SOL, and POL.

4. Select a Timeframe

Choose your desired candle interval: 5, 15, or 30 minutes. Shorter for rapid-fire trades, longer for more thoughtful strategies.

5. Make Your Call

Decide: will the next candle close above (Up) or below (Down) the current candle’s close? Make your pick.

6. Set Your Stake

Enter how much you want to wager:

  • 1–10 POL or 1–3 USDT per prediction.
  • No limit to the number of forecasts you can make.

7. Confirm Transaction

Approve the transaction in your wallet. Each forecast comes with a minor Polygon network fee.

8. See the Results

When the next candle finishes, the platform compares closing prices. If you nailed, congrats! You’ll receive:

  • A reward between 1.5x and 1.9x of your bet.
  • Points based on your wager size (bigger stake = more points).

If your forecast is off, your staked tokens are lost.

Important Details (Read These)

  • Predictions are must to be doing before the current candle closes. Missed it? Wait for the next.
  • Don’t mix up the closing price with the live market price.
  • Minimum winning multiplier is 1.5x, but it can go higher based on how many tokens other users placed on the opposite outcome.
  • Up/Down mode has its own leaderboard. Points earned here also count toward the monthly tournament. Top 20 users share a 3,000 POL reward pool.

💡 Quick Example

You’re betting on ETH in a 5-minute interval. The current candle closes at $2500. You choose “Up” before this candle, expecting the next candle to close higher. If it does, even by a cent, you win and get your stake back multiplied by 1.5x to 1.9x and points. If not, your staked tokens are gone.

Pro Tips for Better Results

  • Watch the market & news: Even a small event (like a Fed update or a tweet from Trump) can wreck your forecast — or work in your favor.
  • Stick to a budget: Only wager what you’re willing to lose. Avoid emotional bets. 🧘
  • Stay updated: The team drops new features regularly. Check Discord, X (Twitter).
  • Test different timeframes: Try all three intervals to discover your rhythm — snappy 5-minute rounds or calm 30-minute ones.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I cancel a forecast after confirming? A: No. Once confirmed in your wallet, you can only observe.

Q: How often can I participate? A: As often as you like, provided you have enough POL or USDT.

Q: How is the closing price determined? A: Prices are pulled from Binance’s official API.
