Why I’m Learning Blockchain Architecture in Public (And What I’m Building Towards)

In 2022, a friend introduced me to something called Meta Force. I didn’t fully understand what it was. Actually it was a crypto ponzi scheme that i understood nothing about, What I did know was that I put money in, and I lost it.

But something strange happened while I was losing that money. I got fascinated.

Every transaction was visible on the chain. Every wallet address was unique and traceable. Nothing could be hidden, edited, or reversed. While everyone around me was focused on the money coming in — or not coming in (LOL) I was stuck on one question: how does this actually work?

That question never left me.

Hi, I’m David — a video editor/Animator, content developer, and Web3 educator at Chaindustry Academy. I hold a blockchain certification from the University of Nicosia, and for the past few years I’ve been helping blockchain projects tell their stories: creating content, building communities, explaining the technology to people who are new to it.

From the outside, I looked like someone who understood this space.

But I knew the truth: I understood the surface. I wanted to understand the foundation.

That’s what pushed me toward enterprise blockchain architecture — the discipline of actually designing how these systems are built, not just using them or talking about them.

Same way we have Architecture in buildings, we also have Architecture in Blockchain Technology

Here’s the thing that genuinely surprised me when I started: blockchain has architects. Just like buildings do.

I studied Building Technology at Covenant University. I know what an architect does — they design the entire system before anyone picks up a single tool. They decide what goes where, why, and how everything holds together under pressure. I never imagined that same role existed in blockchain. That you could sit at the table of building these systems without being a world-class coder. That the thinking — the design, the tradeoffs, the decisions — is its own discipline entirely.

That realization changed everything for me.

What I’m building towards is clear in my head, even if the path is still forming. I want to be a blockchain solutions architect and consultant — specifically for African businesses, institutions, and communities that need these systems but don’t always have someone who can design them thoughtfully and explain them clearly.

Nigeria has real problems that blockchain can genuinely help solve. Land fraud. Broken financial infrastructure. Aid that never reaches the right people. I want to be one of the minds designing the solutions — not just the person making content about them.

So why write publicly about this instead of just studying quietly?

Because the best way to truly understand something is to be accountable to other people. Writing forces clarity. If I can’t explain it simply, I don’t understand it well enough yet. And honestly — I want to leave a trail. A record of someone who started from a question, stayed curious, and built something real out of it.

Every few weeks I’ll be writing here — breaking down what I’m learning about blockchain architecture in ways that don’t require a computer science degree to follow. No whitepapers. No jargon for the sake of it. Just clear, honest explanations of how this technology works and what it could mean for us in Africa.
