Branded entertainment in vertical drama usually works one of two ways: the product sits awkwardly inside a story that was never built for it, or the story disappears entirely into the campaign. CandyJar’s Superfan attempts something structurally different.
The All-American Rejects play themselves. A fan kidnaps the band to force a new album. The unreleased music is the plot engine. Directed by Michael Reich and starring Anna Lore and Eric Guilmette, the series arrived as one of the most genre-resistant releases VertiLand has seen — part horror parody, part fandom satire, part promotional vehicle.
Whether that experiment holds together is a more complicated question than it first appears.
