The Open-Air Stage by the Lake That Most Singaporeans Walk Past
Wave Plaza @ Jurong Lake Gardens | 100 Yuan Ching Rd, Singapore 618662
I almost walked straight past it.

I was following the lakeside promenade at Jurong Lake Gardens, heading toward the Chinese Garden, when the path opened up and the stage appeared framed by water on one side and the Twin Pagodas rising in the distance on the other.
Wave Plaza. A name I hadn’t heard before.
A view I won’t forget quickly.
What It Is
Wave Plaza is an open-air event space located near the PAssion Wave @ Jurong Lake, within the Lakeside Garden precinct.
It has a proper stage. A seating area. Capacity for up to 1,000 standing guests.
The design is clean and understated built to serve the event, not compete with the surroundings. And the surroundings are the point.
Standing at the plaza, the Twin Pagodas of the Chinese Garden are directly in your sightline across the water. On a clear day, their reflections shimmer on the lake surface below them. It’s a genuinely beautiful backdrop that no indoor venue can replicate.
The Setting Does All the Work
I visited on a weekday afternoon when no event was on.
The stage was empty. A few joggers passed. A family sat on the grass nearby, children pointing at something in the water.
Even without a performance, the space had a particular quality the kind of open-air calm that makes you slow down without realising it.
The lake breeze comes through consistently. The pagodas anchor the view. The greenery of Jurong Lake Gardens wraps around the edges of the plaza like a natural set design.
I sat on one of the steps for twenty minutes, just watching the light change on the water.
What Wave Plaza Is Best For
This is a hireable event venue from SGD $720 and it’s easy to see why organisers keep coming back to it.
Performances and concerts with the pagoda backdrop. Community carnivals and weekend markets. Cultural celebrations with the Chinese Garden as a living stage set. Outdoor fitness events with lake views.
The space works for crowds because it’s genuinely open no walls, no ceiling, no sense of being enclosed. A thousand people can fill it without it feeling packed.
And the location inside Jurong Lake Gardens means attendees arrive already in a good mood, having walked through one of Singapore’s best parks to get there.
Getting There
Wave Plaza sits within the Lakeside Garden section of Jurong Lake Gardens, along Yuan Ching Road.
The nearest MRT is Lakeside Station (EW26) about a 10-minute walk through the park entrance. Chinese Garden Station (EW25) is also walkable, and gives you a longer but lovelier route through more of the gardens.
There’s no dedicated entrance for the plaza. You simply walk in from the park.
That accessibility no gates, no ticket booth, no fuss is part of what makes the whole area feel so genuinely open.
A Final Note
Wave Plaza isn’t a destination on its own.
It’s a piece of a larger experience one that includes the lake, the pagodas, the promenade, the garden paths that wind through Jurong Lake Gardens in every direction.
But if you arrive on an evening when something is on music carrying across the water, lights strung between the stage and the treeline, the Twin Pagodas lit up behind the performers it becomes something else entirely.
One of those only-in-Singapore moments where the setting does more than any production design ever could.
