YAP: Excessive Unnecessary Chatter

Definition: “Yap” means to talk too much, often about meaningless topics. For example, if someone is babbling about nonsense and another person starts to get bored, he or she may say, “Stop yapping!”

Usage: “Yap” is a versatile word. Once, when I was talking to my brother about my new coding project, I rambled for a few minutes and could soon tell that I was losing him. He then told me bluntly: “Stop yapping about your project!” Another example was when my sister was trying to communicate what her dream bedroom looked like. She kept going on and on and on, and I couldn’t stand it anymore! So I closed the book on the subject by informing her to “Stop the yap!” I understand “yap” may be considered offensive, but it’s an effective way to end a one-sided discussion immediately!
