Explosive Development: Jokowi Fake Diploma Scandal Now Under Formal Investigation — Roy Suryo Breaks Silence

The case involving the alleged fake diploma of Indonesia’s 7th president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has entered a new phase.

After being a contentious issue and subject of public debate for some time, the Metro Jaya Regional Police have officially upgraded the case’s status from preliminary inquiry (penyelidikan) to full investigation (penyidikan).

This legal step was announced by Metro Jaya Police’s Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, during a press conference on Friday.

According to Ade Ary, the status was elevated after investigators reviewed six police reports filed on July 10, 2025. Of these, four were deemed to meet the criteria for criminal offenses.

“One of the reports advancing to the investigation stage was filed by President Jokowi himself. The other three were reports from district police (Polres) that were escalated to the regional level (Polda),” he explained.

Amid these developments, former Youth and Sports Minister Roy Suryo also responded to reports filed against him with the Metro Jaya Police in the same case.

“It’s fine — completely legitimate. The public has the right to file reports,” Roy said during a television interview on Saturday (July 12).

He affirmed his readiness to comply with legal proceedings but also expressed his expectation that the police would handle the case professionally and with precision.

“Precision means the investigation must follow due process, proper procedures, and legal facts,” he emphasized.

Roy added that he would follow his legal team’s guidance and is prepared to be summoned by investigators for further questioning if needed.

“Let the law take its course. As a law-abiding citizen, I will fully cooperate with the process,” he stated.

The case has drawn significant public attention, not only because it involves President Jokowi but also other prominent figures linked to the alleged fake diploma scandal.

With the investigation now underway, many hope this step will finally put an end to prolonged speculation by delivering legal clarity.
