Suggested Ownership Options for Sierra Leone

My brainstorming session this Sunday morning led me to thinking about ownership structures for Sierra Leone.

This is the combination of my thoughts and some AI research:

Public Ownership

Best for:

• Water
• Environment

These are sectors where profit incentives alone can harm citizens or future generations.

Public–Private Partnership

Best for:

• Electricity
• Transport
• Health
• Education

These sectors benefit from:

• private innovation,
• private capital,
• competition, while still needing strong government oversight and universal access goals.

Pure Private Ownership

Not recommended because:

• In a small developing country like Sierra Leone , fully privatised essential services often lead to:
• unequal access
• high prices
• urban concentration
• underinvestment in poor regions
• political instability.
