The World That Was

Geneva, Switzerland — Three Weeks Later

“Your textbooks are wrong,” Elara told the silent UN panel. “Your geology is wrong. Your history is wrong.”

Her hologram displayed Earth as it existed 14,500 years ago:

  • Greater Lanka, a supercontinent occupying the entire Indian Ocean basin
  • Africa and South America connected by the Atlantis Land Bridge
  • Australia joined to Greater Lanka through the Mu Archipelago
  • The Mediterranean a fertile valley fed by European rivers
  • The Himalayas as gentle hills, not yet thrust skyward by continental collision

“This,” she said, pointing to Greater Lanka,

“wasn’t a collection of nations. It was one civilization — united under a single language, Elu, and a single governance system based in Lanka Prime.”

Professor Samarasinha, the Sri Lankan delegate, nodded slowly.

“The Lankan Commonwealth. Oral traditions speak of it. The Yuga-Sandhi — the Age of Connection.”

Elara advanced the hologram. “But unity didn’t mean peace. The Commonwealth had internal factions:”

  • The Atlantic Federation — Western provinces (later mythologized as Atlantis)
  • The Pacific Coalition — Eastern territories (remembered as Mu)
  • The Eurasian Dynasty — Northern alliances
  • The African Sovereignty — Southern realms

“They fought,” Elara said.

“Not with primitive weapons, but with technology we’d consider advanced even today. Energy weapons. Genetic manipulation. Psychotronic warfare.”

She showed carvings of Lankan cities burning — not from human hands, but from other things:

Winged beings raining fire from skies. Shadow-creatures emerging from rifts in reality. Forest-spirit armies turning technology against its creators.

“And through the cracks of human conflict,” Elara whispered, “the Otherworlds invaded.”

To be continued in Chapter 3.

Chapter 3: “The Council of Lanka Prime”. Flashback to 14,527 years ago — meet Ravana as he addresses the fractured Lanka Commonwealth.

📝 BEHIND THE STORY

The Real Mythology:

  • Yuga-Sandhi: The transitional period between world ages in Hindu cosmology.
  • Global Flood Myths: From Noah to Manu, the collective memory of a great deluge.

Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis: The theory of a comet strike ~12,800 years ago triggering a mini-ice age and catastrophic flooding

💬 YOUR TURN

  • If you were in the UN chamber, would you believe Elara or dismiss her as a fantasist?
  • Which lost civilization myth (Atlantis, Kumari Kandam, Mu) fascinates you most?
  • Do you think humanity was ever truly united?
