Readers discover something new on Medium every single day. That’s the beauty of sharing your stories as a writer — you can reach someone and change their mind, give them a new skill, help them understand something complicated. Many writers tell us that on Medium, they find their people, readers who are just as passionate about the topic you write about as you are.
As a reading and writing platform, this normally happens via the medium of the written word. But on one day a year, our readers and writers gather live to share their stories on Medium Day.

Medium Day is a free, live, virtual gathering happening on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. This year’s theme is simple: Discover something.
Every attendee will walk away with a new discovery in their pocket. Maybe a change to how you see a subject you thought you understood. Maybe a technique that finally unlocks something in your writing. Or perhaps you discover a community of people who care about the same things you do. Whatever it is, Medium Day is the place to find it.
What is Medium Day?
Medium Day is a free, day-long virtual expo for writers, readers, and anyone curious about ideas. Every year, thousands of people from around the world come together to learn, connect, and leave with something they didn’t expect.
This year’s sessions cover four tracks:
- Craft. For writers who want to become better at the actual work of writing. Sessions cover voice, process, structure, habit, and more, led by writers who’ve figured something out worth sharing. There’s something here for every writing level.
- Perspectives. For readers and writers who want to learn something substantive. Expect first-hand knowledge and expert voices on a wide range of topics, like science, technology, health, culture, identity, and beyond.
- Platform. Want to use Medium better? This track features product demos, behind-the-scenes looks, and a welcome keynote from Medium CEO Tony Stubblebine with updates on what’s next for writers and editors on Medium.
- Community. Writing can be lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Find connection with meetups, networking sessions, and community-led events.
We’ve confirmed over one hundred speakers from our community after receiving record-breaking numbers of applications this year. The quality of the applications this year was incredibly high, so we’re excited to reveal the full line-up once it’s all confirmed.
What to expect on September 18
A few confirmed sessions to put on your radar:
- CEO Tony Stubblebine’s welcome talk. Hear directly from Medium’s CEO about where we’ve been, where we’re going, and what we’re building for you next.
- Meetups across all topics, hosted as a space for writers to connect and network. These were a huge hit at Pub Crawl 2026, so we’re excited to bring them back for our community.
- TK demo sessions. Learn more about our new writing tool designed to keep you writing.
- Community Morning Pages with Kassandra @ Medium. Start your day with a guided, communal writing session, led by our Community Manager.
- Write a Medium Story in 100 Minutes with Zulie @ Medium. A live, hands-on session for anyone who keeps meaning to hit publish. Zulie will walk you through her process from idea to polished draft.
- Expert talks across all disciplines. Medium writers like Ebony Walden, Sam Westreich, PhD, Emily Cook, PhD, Michael Allen Nesmith, Hamid Karimianpour, and Deb Harman MEd. share their first-person perspectives on AI, culture and arts, healthcare, science, identity and social justice, self-improvement, and more.
More sessions will be announced in the coming weeks. Keep your eyes open for our full schedule of confirmed community speakers.
Medium Day is free and open to everyone. Whether you’ve been writing on Medium for years or you’ve never published a word, there’s something here for you.
We’ll see you on September 18.
