is this a tech paradigm overhaul?
I didn’t expect to have such mixed feelings about the Commodore 64 (C64) coming back. But this return of the C64 really got me thinking. It’s not just the retro hardware or old-school nostalgia-baited branding. What got me geared up was the question —
Are we overcomplicating our modern tech?

Back in the 80s with home computers like the C64, we had direct access to hardware, modular design, and real control. Control that made solutions scale with less hardware and slower processors. Today, we just pile on the abstractions, layers, and constraints — and we call it all progress. But is it really? With AI and our modern development tools, maybe it’s time to rethink what we’re doing and why.
This retro reboot is more than just nostalgia for me. It’s a stark reality check that simplicity, creativity, and control aren’t outdated — they’re ideas that many of us have left behind. I’m not just watching this out of my childhood memories of programming on the C64. It’s because my mind is spinning with the question —
Is the best path forward rediscovering what we once knew?
