Germany Sets an Example by Appointing Indian Origin Bishop that counters prejudices of racism & intolerance to migration.

On 15 March 2026, DW News shared,

“The diversity of the global Catholic Church is reaching the German episcopate. Joshy George Pottackal, born in India, is to become the first auxiliary non-European bishop.

He himself calls it a ‘strong signal:’ A man with non European roots serving as a Catholic bishop in Germany.

According to the German Bishops’ Conference, around 3.4 million Catholics in the country hold at least one foreign citizenship — out of a total of just under 20 million.

Many dioceses also estimate how many of their faithful speak a language other than German at home, the share is about one-fifth.

For the Catholic Church in Germany, this marks a historic step — almost a sensation.”

This news makes to think that why ignorant intolerance still exists in the society?

It is because of the multi-standard of the policy makers and so-called educated masses. They have followers of brainless majority.

Like many other international days, 21st March 2026 while marking “International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination” got Germany as the substantive instance to showcase that it is not hollow ceremony but action matches with words.

Germany’s appointment of a Bishop of not from the same country, continent, skin colour, mother tongue proves the worth of the day and becomes an example to those who are ignorant or swayed by all harsh, functionally illiterate and factional forces.
