Nic Claxton is re-signing with the Brooklyn Nets with a four-year, $100 million deal. Nic has been with the Nets for 5 years since they drafted him in the 2019 NBA draft with the 31st pick. Nic has averaged a career 10.3 points and he is 6' 11". He is a crucial factor of the Nets defense and has helped them to a good record and the playoffs.

In 2019, Nic joined a good Nets team with a superstar. In the 2020 NBA playoffs, the Nets lost in the first round to the Toronto Raptors 4–0. That year, Nic averaged 4.4 points in 15 games played. In the 2021 NBA playoffs, the Nets made it to the second round but sadly lost in Game 7 to the Milwaukee Bucks. That year, Nic averaged 6.6 points in 32 games played.

In 2022 NBA playoffs, the Nets lost to the Boston Celtics 4–0. That year, Nic averaged 8.7 points in 47 games played. In the 2023 NBA playoffs, the Nets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 4–0. Nic averaged 12.6 points in 76 games played. In the 2022–2023 season Nic had a breakout season. He averaged 2.5 blocks per game and 70.2 field goal percentage which was second in the NBA for both stats. In the 2024 season, the Nets missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

Next season, Nic will be a defensive player and Noah Clowney could join him and together they will make a defensive duo. Some people think Nic could be named defensive player of the year or on the All-Defensive Team. Now that Nic is with the Nets for another 4 years, he will be great on the defensive side. Now we have to wait and see if the Nets can get more good players in free agency and get better.
