June 18: Just seen on the news: Man is attempting to build a base on the Moon, “as a practice for Mars”. How do you feel about this and science exploration in general? (Adrienne Beaumont)
I am incensed. So angry! We, humans, can’t look after our own “Goldilocks” perfect planet — well, perfect before humans started messing it up — cutting down ancient rainforests, destroying habitats, polluting the oceans, killing out coral reefs, fracking the earth for gas and oil, and destroying the land with opencut coal mines.
If we can’t look after our planet, with all of its natural beauty, there’s no hope for us as a civilisation anywhere else.
How about we start by not killing each other in wars? How about we elect responsible humans instead of ones who encourage their nation to “Drill, baby, drill!” I’ll never forget that comment as long as I have a memory. Let’s use our solar and wind resources to create power. Oh, while I’m on my soapbox, let’s get rid of AI. But that’s another topic.
