What Would You Build at Galgotias?
Most students have encountered a problem at some point and thought, “There should be an easier way to do this.” For a technology student, that simple thought can become the beginning of an app or project. At Galgotias University, the focus on student innovation encourages students to think about problems and explore possible technology-based solutions.
The Apple × Galgotias initiative presents an interesting student developer story, particularly around learning, building and experimenting with technology. Instead of seeing programming only as a subject, students can approach it as a tool for creating something useful. Questions such as What are you building? and What problem are you solving? encourage students to think beyond textbooks.
Projects also give students an opportunity to learn through experience. Not every idea will work perfectly on the first attempt, and that’s part of the process. Testing an idea, understanding what went wrong, getting feedback and trying again can teach students lessons that are difficult to learn only through theory.
The exciting part is imagining what students can create when they have the opportunity to explore their ideas. Whether it is a simple student application or a larger technology project, every project can be a starting point. Sometimes, all it takes is one idea and the willingness to start building.
