Baby Tracker

I was looking through iTunes for any interactive health-related apps. I came across an app, Baby Tracker, which mimics what I usually do at work. I found the app to be quite interesting, and especially helpful for busy parents of newborns. This app was created by nighp software, a bunch of busy parents, located in Virginia. The app is also available for Androids and comes in many different languages.

Baby Tracker is an interesting app because it can help many busy parents become organized with tasks and schedules associated with their newborns. The app also takes into consideration of premature babies by adjusting their ages (based on the babies’ due dates) for growth records. In the NICU, I meet many parents that are very anxious and flustered about bringing their babies home. They are scared they are not able to take care of their babies competently. They also are afraid their babies will not stick to their feeding schedules, meet their milestones, or void/stool sufficiently. Parents have many worries and become overwhelmed with the multitude of tasks and schedules of these newborns.

Baby Tracker allows the parents to keep track of feeding records (how much consumed, how long the baby nursed), diaper counts, how many ounces and duration the mother pumped, milestones the baby meets, and measurements and vaccines. All the data can be converted into a weekly or monthly chart, enabling parents to view trends. The user can also take or upload pictures onto the app, and sync, share as a .pdf, or print data directly from the app. Baby Tracker can make doctor’s visits easier because parents are able to share data or important pictures with the physicians.

This app can be especially useful for nursing mothers because the app will enable nursing mothers to determine if they are pumping adequate amounts of milk. Mothers often lose track of how much breast milk is available because they may be pumping abundant amounts. The app records the total breast milk inventory available. When breast milk is bottle fed to the baby (and the amount is recorded in the app), the app will automatically deduct the amount from the total available inventory.

Baby Tracker can save parents a lot of time and make tasks seem easier. I am amazed that there is an app for tasks I do at work every day. The app is user-friendly and everything about the newborn can be found on it.

I also forgot to mention, the app allows tracking of multiple babies. For those parents with babies close in age to each other, or twins/triplets, this app can make their lives much easier.
