“Echoes of the Heart — 1", abstract painting

What happens when resistance meets the light of acceptance? My latest abstract painting explores this journey.

Journeying into abstract

To translate the meaning of an abstract art is challenging because it’s the expression in the form of swirling colours and patterns with no definite structure that a human brain can normally comprehend. It’s an emotional and spiritual language which needs to be felt rather than mentally perceived. Mental constructs and words are limited to describe something that is subtle.

Nonetheless, here’s my attempt at verbalising the meaning of my work in which I enjoyed being lost for quite a while. I tried my best to understand what this piece of art that I was randomly creating, meant for me. I feel that generally abstract art can not be dissected and expressed in words, until atleast we’re with a limited language such as that of words, so this is me acting as a bridge to make sense of the work.

True abstract art, created with the right level of indulgence and authenticity, holds deeper value. If a viewer cannot understand it, it reflects their limited ability to perceive it, rather than the art lacking inherent value or meaning.

The painting portrays a vivid interplay of emotions: a fiery orange surge symbolizes rising passion, intertwined with jagged black lines representing resistance. The blackish leafy shadows at the top symbolize the fear enveloping the heart space, attempting to close it off.

Sparse golden-brown dots subtly emerge, suggesting a faint and gradual process of acceptance amidst the turmoil. At the center, a pink, tree-like trunk stands as a symbol of a rooted and centered spirit.

The backdrop suggests the shadowy depths of a dark forest, devoid of external light, while the only illumination radiates from within, a soft glow emanating from the heart. This inner light holds the strength to guide acceptance, gradually overcoming resistance and offering hope for transformation.

My experience

I sat with this work for a long time to understand the meaning behind this intuitive and free-flowing creation. I really liked the slow process of this one.

This work made me appreciate the intuitive form of making art, a free-flowing one where each stroke is made without control yet the final piece comes together as a piece of art, proving that even if you don't know the destination of your journey still you should have trust in the universe's plan.

Imagine if instead of so many forms, shapes that are rigid and solid, we were more tuned into the flow of colours.

One way to think of the expression abstract art is by relating it to our own spiritual energetic fields. We are a mix of particular shades of colours, which shows up in our auras, if that could be captured how would that look? There's something called as aura photography, and that's an example I'd like to give for abstract world in action.

Conclusion

Abstract art connects us to light, comprising of different colours and waves, which can only be understood by feeling it. Connecting with the art with your heart center as the brain is what’s required there. It’s also an experience which invites a viewer to see and understand more about themselves and connect with the world that is above words.
