5 Years of East Atlanta Love Letter

Five years ago, on September 18th, just four days after 6lack released his second album, fate led me to stumble upon a tweet discussing “East Atlanta Love Letter.” I was actively seeking new music, and there was something captivating about that album title.

To this day, I remain grateful to the individual who shared that tweet and to the one who brought it onto my timeline. Unbeknownst to them, they introduced me to an artist whose music I would cherish for years to come. This is why I’m always eager to share my playlists and newfound music discoveries. Perhaps I’m passing on that same magic. Over the years, I’ve had people express their gratitude to me for introducing them to 6lack’s music.

6lack and his music have become integral to my musical journey. He might not be aware, but his unique sound has set a standard by which I judge and hold other artists. This man from East Atlanta gifted me an album that has remained a fixture in my playlist for years.

I still find myself pondering the inspiration behind each track on “East Atlanta Love Letter.”

“EALL” delves into the pain of love, with 6lack baring his emotions through songs like ‘Sorry,’ ‘Unfair,’ and ‘Disconnect.’ He reveals a vulnerable side, pouring his feelings into his lyrics.

Another aspect of the album that I adore is the featured artists. My favorite collaboration is with J. Cole on ‘Pretty Little Fears.’ This song is a masterpiece of songwriting and delivery.

His emotional depth shines in ‘Stan,’ a song that never fails to move me. Its lyrics have the power to touch anyone’s heart.

Five years have passed, and this album still evokes the same emotions as when I first heard it.
