Unreleased Version of Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam” Surfaces With New Big Sean Vocals

On Christmas Day, a short snippet of a never-before-heard version of Kanye West’s hit “Ultralight Beam” from his album The Life Of Pablo surfaced on Reddit. The recording was uploaded by an anonymous user. The leaked snippet features prominent vocals from popular rapper Big Sean, whose vocals are absent on the final release. As well, the other features on the released version seem to be removed. In the demo, Sean reflects on individual struggles and past mistakes, offering a tone we don’t see from his main braggadocio style.
The snippet swiftly garnered attention from West’s online fanbase, where it was the subject of praise. “An Ultralight Beam leak on Christmas? I’m being treated well this year,” one very ecstatic Reddit user wrote. Enthusiasts note that this appears to be the third known iteration of the track.
