We have all heard it 1003 times that how you react to life challenges determines who you become.
Here is a question to create a concrete next action today
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
I came across the question a couple of years ago, which has kept me returning to it with various answers, but I found no answer I was satisfied with until recently.
What kept me circling the question was getting specific. I felt emotional intelligence was too broad. The question said ONE thing, not 20.
My answer is: I want to enhance my habit of being genuinely interested in people. With that answer in mind, I created a concrete plan.
Try answering it yourself: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
- The follow-up question is, what is the next action to start that adventure?
Here are some relevant quotes.
- “If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily.” — Gerald Good
- “I’m thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn’t have stumbled across my strength.” — Anonymous
- “The highest aspiration is to be a person of generosity, integrity, humility, curiosity, and wisdom.” — Adam Grant
- “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
- “Blessed are the curious, for they shall have adventures.” -Lovelle Drachman
