Feast on Fate

Celeste is a tarot card-inspired restaurant, offering meals based on your personal tarot card reading and sun chart. We are an experience-based place offering delicious meals with a fun, mysterious appeal. Join us to learn more about yourself, predict your meal, and feast on what is tailored to you.

Process

During this process, I was tasked with multiple deliverables at once. Creating a logo was step one, as I had multiple ideas and options. To create this logo, I was influenced by the spiritual world which tends to accompany tarot cards. I wanted the logo to feel elegant and classy while also feeling celestial and earthy to match the cards but also give the feel of a high end restaurant.

Menu Design

For the menu design of Celeste, I decided to create two seperate menus; one being the food menu, and the other being a cocktail and dessert menu. The food menu includes meals based on your hand selected tarot card, so for instance if you were to pull the Magician card, you would be served a color changing chicken and rice dish.

The cocktail menu includes special crystal cocktails inspired by crystals such as rose quartz, amethyst, and malachite. The desserts, as well as the appetizers are inspired by zodiac signs in reference to tarot.

Products

The products I created were inspired directly from the tarot cards themself. The botanical elements were added as a way to depict an earthy feel also linked with the tarot cards.

Environmental Design

For a majority of the design process, I was attempting to create a mystical but also moody and expensive kind of feel for the brand. This was important to me as I still wanted to achieve an earthy feel, which was slightly difficult due to the contradiction between the dark moody vibe, and airy earthy vibes. I decided to add a gradient to most of the design as a way to achieve the airy feel but still keep the whole thing moody feeling.

The tarot cards created were inspired by artists like Matisse and the idea of celestial beings. The Fool is in a falling position as if it did something foolish and fell down. The Magician card incorporates birds as symbolism for traditional magical tricks and the Strength card is inspired by the lion which is also original to typical tarot cards.

Conclusion

Overall the process of creating Celeste was a positive experience for me. I have learned a lot of new skills when it comes to brand design. It was enjoyable to incorporate a mystical/celestial kind of feel for the brand while also trying to keep it classic.
