Would You Take A Fisker If You Won One?

Winner could receive a nearly “$70,000 paperweight.”

As I write this article, T-Mobile on the T-Life app is giving customers a chance to enter to win a Fisker Ocean One EV.

I immediately clicked the link and watched the video and answered the questions in order to enter. My wife did the same thing.

At first, I was incredibly excited, and with that I made the choice to do the very thing I always do when it comes to the possibility of owning something as cool as an electric vehicle (EV). I did some intense research.

I started with respected tech reviewer Marques Brownlee.

I was skeptical at first about his review, and I respect MKBHD. As he described the issues with the operating system of the car, concerns with breaking, and the fact the company is a heartbeat away from bankruptcy, I realized that Marques might very much be onto something. This video was very similar to the most popular one “The Worst Car I Ever Reviewed.”

Other YouTube creators like EV-365 mentioned that owners of the Fisker Ocean One EV can’t even get their cars to shift to drive and some are not even able to resale them.

YouTuber Austin Evans shared his dissappointment with Fisker as he attempted to willfully buy a Fisker Ocean One EV. His attempt to buy one was met with run-arounds and delays.

Multiple publications such as Edmunds and TechCrunch have already revealed that Fisker is struggling.

The stock price during mid-March began to fall rapidly as the EV maker is exploring the very real possibility of a bankruptcy according to CNN.

At the end of March, Fisker drastically reduced the price of the Ocean, and as reported by Edmund’s, making it a 69.6% depreciation.

A T-Mobile customer who ends up winning the Fisker Ocean One EV could very well end up with, as Austin Evans said, a “$70,000 paperweights.”

And surely T-Mobile knows that the vehicle they are trying to give people a chance to win is depreciating before it even actually leaves the lot.

But…because the prize is free…one could imagine that somebody will take it.
