Demographic review analysis of the Star Wars Saga

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker just released earlier this week, and the reviews are brutal — some people are saying it’s the worst of all movies from the Star Wars Saga- three trilogies spanning 1977–2019. While some might say it’s recency bias, the movie scores 57% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer. This Reddit Review Megathread has some pointed arguments and rants on how Disney has milked this franchise to death and done an enormous disservice to its legacy.
I thought the TRoS was okay (I give it a 6/10) — while it was visually spectacular, it felt empty in terms of plot, with a lot of rehashed tropes that we’ve seen in the trilogy before.
Should you go watch it? It depends — judging by the average IMDB review rating, it’s the third-worst movie of the nine-part series — after Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. If you’re a 45+ female, you are likely to enjoy it a lot more than a -18 male.
