It’s mango blossom time in India. Those who have smelled it must be aware of how heavenly it feels. I grew up with a backyard full of mango trees. The enchanting fragrance, the bees, and the hope of soon-to-be fruits felt amazing.

In my current place, there are no mango trees. I miss them and try to recollect the joy they gave. But, in my neighborhood, there is a huge avocado orchard. The avocado tree blossoms sure remind me of mangoes!

Similarly, my native region in India glows neon-orange with palash flowers in spring, which I don’t see in California.

But here, we have coral trees, the flowers of which resemble those of palash.

I admire the avocado and coral flowers.

That’s how I feel at home, away from home.
