The Illusion Of Having This Altogether
It was a time when I thought, “I’m able to do all this.” It was like the best remark of honor I used to give to myself.
Juggling work, family, friendship, self-care, and all other responsibilities in my way made me feel that I won in life.
And frankly speaking, the people around me looked impressed with my work and time management skills.
But here is the truth that I just accepted much later: what looked like a strength outside often felt like drowning from the inside!
Each task completed came with another one waiting, and instead of feeling proud, I often felt tired and guilty for not doing more or not being enough.
And I know I’m not alone about it. Many of us secretly wear a mask of managing all the responsibilities all together with smiling faces but inside are thriving for a breath of relief and peace.
The Silent Weight We Carry
All this not only takes our energy; it takes us far from our happiness. We are present everywhere but never really here.
I remember once sitting in a family, smiling and nodding, but inside I was writing emails, thinking about the patient’s cases, checking to-do lists and worried about the deadlines.
This is the weight we carry with us while always hustling around. And when society praises multitasking, it rarely accepts how it feels to live in this way.
Choosing A Balance Over Perfection
What I have learned is that the balance does not come from adding more to the list; it comes from letting it go. This is not easy, because letting go sounds wrong at first.
But I have begun to remind myself: to say “no” to something we couldn’t do or balance is not weakness — this is the real strength and perfection.
- We do not need to attend all events.
- We don’t need to say yes to every task or request.
- We don’t need to grab all the opportunities.
And honestly speaking? When we take a pause from our hectic routine, the world does not get separated — it just keeps moving at its own pace.
The only thing that changes is; we begin to feel lighter, calm, and having more control of our lives.
We Deserve More Than Just Survival
If “doing it all” makes us feel like we are drowning, it’s not the life we deserve to live. We deserve more than just survival — we deserve fulfillment, joy, and peace.
Therefore, I want the reminder to take us all: you do not need to prove your value by driving yourself on the ground. You are enough, even when you slow down, even when you choose comfort, even when you say ‘no.’
Because at the end of the day, no one remembers how busy we looked — they remember us for how much we feel, how much we were present for them, and how much love we shared.
A Great Reminder
We have learned that “doing it all” is the strength.
But perhaps it has been found that the real strength is about knowing our boundaries, determining the boundaries, and doing what really means something to us.
So let’s stop glorifying exhaustion and start celebrating the balance!
